The trek to Everest Base Camp is one of the most renowned trekking trails in the world.

Four of the world’s six tallest peaks, namely Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Cho Oyu are situated in this beautiful region. Everest Base Camp Trek is popular amongst mountain lovers since the first trekking endeavor in the year 1953, when Sir. Sherpas are yet another interesting part of the Everest Base Camp Trek. Trekking through the Everest region takes you to the world of Himalayan beauty where you get to witness the impressive mountains, wonderful Sherpa culture and exquisite traditions of the people living in the Himalayas. The trek further enhances your exploration, while sightseeing in Sagarmatha National Park, a habitat for different varieties of floras and faunas. The region is also embellished with ancient Buddhist monasteries, beautiful glaciers, rivers and most of all the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayan range.

Day 1

Arrival to Kathmandu

We'll be flying from our home country into Kathmandu where we will spend a day to prepare for the trek. We will be picked up from the airport and taken to the hotel booked for us and have a festive dinner to welcome you to this beautiful country. At the end of the trek, you can choose to spend some days exploring this city and its unique vibe.

Day 2

Flight to Lukla, trek to Phakding

We will wake up early in the morning to go to the domestic Kathmandu airport and take the flight to Lukla. It's going to be a one hour flight above the beautiful Himalayan chain, and we will land in Lukla, the starting point of our trek. After lunch, we will start our trek towards Phakding, for 2-3 hours, through animated villages and crossing bridges while experiencing the local scenery. It's a light day to start the trek.

Day 3

Trek to Namche

On this day we will embark on a 6-8 hours long trek to Namche Bazaar, at 3440 m, the main trading center and hub for the Khumbu region. The city is very animated with tourists, shops, and it's the last place on our trek where you can still buy equipment needed, souvenirs or European coffee and cakes.

Day 4

Acclimatising in Namche

As we have reached 3440 m already, we will spend a day in Namche part of our acclimatization process. We will go for a hike on a nearby hill at 3800 m, and visit the statue and museum of Tenzing in Namche Bazaar. Of course, this day can be used for shopping in case you have forgotten anything and just realized now.

Day 5

Trek to Debuche

This trekking day will last for about 5-6 hours, taking us up to Tengboche Monastery at 3870 m and then sleeping at 3770 m, in Debuche. Starting from Namche the first couple of hours are pretty easy, till we start the rather long climb towards the monastery. But the view up there and the visit to the monastery will compensate for the effort. After another 30 min downhill, we will reach the lodge where we'll be spending the night.

Day 6

Trek to Dingboche

If the weather allows, the trek today will offer us spectacular views over Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. The journey is long but we gain around 700 m in altitude today. No steep climbs today, while Dingboche offers us places where we can have a very Western cappuccino and cake. It's a quite relaxing day with beautiful scenery along the journey.

Day 7

Trek to Lobuche

A day to reach higher and even more spectacular views. The trek to Tukla is quite smooth, giving us a chance to soak in slowly the altitude change that starts to kick in. We'll have lunch in Tukla to prepare us for the steep climb taking us to a small plateau with a lot of commemorative stones and flags in the memory of those who died on their Everest summit attempt. After that, a 30 more minute hike takes us to the final resting point for the night.

Day 8

Trek to Everest Base Camp

And finally, the day we've been waiting for, to reach the base of the highest point on Earth. We trek to Gorakshep, have lunch and take just a light backpack with us for the remaining few hours of the trek to Everest Base Camp, at 5364 m, and back to spend the night in Gorakshep.

Day 9

Trek to Kala Phattar and back to Pangboche

We wake up really early in the morning and aim to reach the summit of Kala Patthar at 5545 m before sunrise, to have a spectacular view of the Everest peak during the beautiful rays of the morning sun. And so we reach the highest altitude of the trek, and start descending, till Pangboche at 3985 m. All altitude sickness should be gone by now and the happiness of the achievement will start to kick in.

Day 10

Trek to Namche

Today we have a long way but a very enjoyable one as we're descending back to Namche and spend the evening there celebrating our success and enjoying the return to civilization.

Day 11

Trek to Lukla

We're going all the way back to Lukla where we're spending the night. The last climb right before Lukla will seem an endless one, but the satisfaction of completing the trek will surpass everything.

Day 12

Flight back to Kathmandu

We wake up early to catch our flight back to Kathmandu, where we have the rest of the day to visit and explore the busy and culturally shocking city.

Day 13

Departure to our home countries

We'll be taking everyone back to the airport to catch the flights back home. Everyone will be happy with the experience but also somehow sad it ended.

Am fost in tura Everest Base Camp & Vf Kala Pathar si pot sa zic doar atat: BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I met Radu before deciding to choose Extreme Expeditions and I trusted them since that. We went to Everest Basecamp and Kala Pathar peak and despite the bad wether, having the right parners in Nepal made the journey possible. Radu and his team are really great communicators, they help as much as they can, and offer a memorable journey. I loved getting to know them and experiencing everything with them. I'll choose them for my next expeditions for sure!

It was simply amazing, the landscape, the group, the interaction with the locals, the way I had to push myself especially during the morning climb to Kala Phattar. But it was a once in a lifetime experience and I want to thank Extreme Expeditions for arranging all this and taking care that we have such a great experience!

More about this tour

The Everest Base Camp Trek on the south side is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas and is visited by thousands of trekkers each year. Trekkers usually fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to save time and energy before beginning the trek to this base camp. However, trekking to Lukla is possible. There are no roads from Kathmandu to Lukla and as a result, the only method of transporting large and heavy goods is by plane.

In 2015, it was noted that about 40,000 people per year take the trek from the Lukla airport to the Nepal Everest Base Camp.

Everest Base Trek Route Map from Nepal side

From Lukla, climbers trek upward to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, 3,440 m, following the valley of the Dudh Kosi river. It takes about two days to reach the village, which is a central hub of the area. Typically at this point, climbers allow a day of rest for acclimatization. They then trek another two days to Dingboche, 4,260 m. Another two days takes them to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep, the flat field below Kala Patthar, 5,545 m and Mt. Pumori.
